Job Opening: Massage Therapist
JOB POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Advanced Kinetics Physical Therapy is now looking for part-time Massage Therapists willing to work in a sports performance medical setting in conjunction with physical therapy staff. AKPT is looking for a hard working candidate that is interested in sports performance and working with clients recovering from injury.
We are looking for a Massage Therapist who is passionate about promoting a holistic approach to personal health. Experience with various massage services that can help reduce pain and stress, such as deep tissue, Swedish, reflexology, trigger point, and lymphatic drainage massage are preferred but not required. Our ideal candidate must be able to make a client feel comfortable and encourage them to return for additional treatment. To apply for this position, you must have a Massage Therapist License for Virginia.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide 30-60 minute massages to clients by appointment
- Guide clients through service offerings and determine which massages would benefit them most
- Take a detailed client history and note any health conditions
- Evaluate clients to determine painful or stressed areas of the body
- Listen to clients during appointments and adjust technique as they desire
- Encourage future massage appointments and regime to clients
- Ability to market independently for new clientele
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work well with multi-disciplinary staff and thrive in a team environment
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong communication and client skills
- Friendly, outgoing and compassionate
- CPR certified (preferred not required)
- Independent and good time management skills
- Background in kinesiology, exercise science or pre-physical therapy (not required)
- Must hold current massage therapy certification – 500 hours minimum completed
- Demonstrated sales and customer service skills
- At least 1-2 years experience required! (Medical setting preferred but not required)
