Letter from AKPT Owners
Hello Everyone, Kwang and Angela want to take this time to send a message to all our trusted patients and clients. We understand this is a very difficult time for everyone. At AKPT, we wanted to share what we are doing to maintain safety for all our patients and staff alike.
We are monitoring this evolving pandemic situation very closely on a daily and sometimes hourly basis. We continue to follow all CDC recommendations for precautions, cleaning procedures and exposure. We are screening all patients as they come for their appointments. We expect any patient feeling ill or potentially has been exposed to the coronavirus to call our office and cancel their appointments. No visitors will be allowed with patients as we are following strict guidelines of no more than 10 people in the clinic at a time. Our promise to you is to keep a safe and clean environment for those who are in need of our services the most.
As physical therapists, we feel it is our professional responsibility to serve our community in ways that can help flatten the curve. By keeping our doors open we can reduce the number of patients that are going to doctors offices and ER’s for musculoskeletal ailments. This will lessen the exposure of these patients to the COVID-19 virus. Physical therapists can provide valuable services to help reduce pain and treat acute injuries. In the state of VA we have 30 day direct access, which means a patient can be treated for up to 30 days without needing a doctor’s prescription.
We have also instituted E-Visits, which will allow any established patients to communicate with their provider to seek guidance and help while self-isolating or social distancing.
Our personal training staff will also be offering discounted virtual training sessions.
As many know, the personal protective equipment supply is very low. Currently we have enough supply of gloves and cleaning supplies to protect our patients and staff. However medical masks are on backorder. As we are not in the direct front lines of treating the sick, we do not feel as though over ordering masks at this time is necessary. It is more prudent that those supplies be used by our hospitals, doctors and nurses that are in direct contact with those that are experiencing symptoms. If patients feel comfortable wearing a mask in the clinic we are 100% supportive, however we cannot supply those to each patient.
AKPT is 100% committed to your health and safety, however there may come a point where we feel as though it is not safe for our doors to remain open. Just know we will be doing it out of an abundance of care and caution.
Please be safe, stay active and healthy. We are here for you as we navigate this pandemic situation.
With much love and appreciation,
Kwang Han and Angela Gordon
